Get your popcorn out. Hooper's books are the equivalent of a summer movie— fast, fun, pretty good, and the good guys always win in the end. Whisper of Evil is set in the wrongly-named town of Silence, where secrets never last, and where men are apparently getting killed for theirs. Upstanding businessmen turn out to have sordid pasts or illicit activities after their violent deaths... and no one is sure how to find the killer.

Nell Gallagher, an FBI agent, has returned to Silence to settle her father's estate, or so everyone thinks. Actually, she's on an official task to track down the killer. But the secrets of her home town are more than threatening, and she might somehow be next on the list.

Hooper is good at maintaining the tension necessary to a dramatic read. So do try to set aside enough time to read her books in large chunks.
